Classical Chinese Medicine

Nutrition, Essential Oils, Herbs, Gems & Stones

Proper diet and nutrition are the foundations of wellness. We offer dietary guidelines as part of Acupuncture treatments as well as individualized consultations and assessments to treat imbalances and improve overall health.

We are also excited to be part of a pioneering movement in the use of Essential Oils and Gemstone Therapy in the context of Classical Chinese Medicine. Essential Oils are a potent form of herbal medicine because these oils contain the essence of the plant which resonates directly with the essence of the human body.  ‘Essence’ in Chinese Medicine, also referred to as the ‘Jing’, corresponds to the body’s deepest energetic level. In scientific terms, Essence or Jing relates to the body’s genetic material and the DNA. According to Ge Hong, one of the honorable early Chinese alchemists, Gemstones are the most potent form of herbal medicine as they are substances that evolve and transform over time without degenerating like plant and animal substances. In this way, Gemstone therapy can imbue more permanent healing than any other herbal substances. Therefore, Essential Oils and Gemstones are both modalities that directly impact the deepest energetic aspect of the body. Essential Oils are also an ideal treatment for addressing emotional and mental imbalances because they directly transmit through the olfactory system to impact the limbic brain where traumatic memories are stored.

Diet, Essential Oils, Gems & Stones are healing modalities that also allow patients to do home care so they can be directly be involved in their healing process. They are all exciting approaches that safely and powerfully treat both acute and chronic conditions.

Qi Gong

The word “Qi” (or “chi”) means “life force” or "vital energy" of the body and the word “Gong” means "skill" that is cultivated through steady practice.  Thus, Qi Gong means “the skill of cultivating energy.” The practice involves gentle, rhythmic exercises combined with simple breathing techniques to relieve stress, support detoxification, regulate the immune system and thereby increase the body’s innate healing abilities. Qi Gong is quickly becoming popular in the West for its healing power and rejuvenating properties. The exercise routines can be learned easily and are perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels. Weekly classes Mondays 11:45am-12:45pm with Salvador Cefalu, L.Ac. $18 drop-in or $150 for 10 classes. Click here to register*No class on Monday, December 28th.

Yoga Integration

A gentle blend of Yin-Yang Yoga with Meditation and insights based on the principles of Chinese Medicine. Yin Yoga increases flexibility through long held postures that stretch the connective tissue, circulating blood, fluid and energy through the meridians. This allows for the nervous system to calm down and the hips, pelvis and lower back release to bring ease in the body for deeper meditation practices or simply for greater daily comfort in the body-mind. Yang Yoga is more active and designed to strengthen the muscles and increase endurance. By balancing Yin and Yang through deep stretch and fluid movement, we cultivate a meditative practice that aligns body, breath and mind. Learn more at www.setarehmoafi.com.
